Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru National Park Overview

Imagine driving through the hills of the Great Rift Valley, and suddenly, a sparkling lake appears between the hills. Welcome to Lake Nakuru! Just four hours from Nairobi, this lake covers 45 square kilometers and sits in Lake Nakuru National Park.

The park, though small at 88 square kilometers, is packed with wildlife. It is home to four of the Big Five: lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalos. The park is one of the soda lakes in the Great Rift Valley, a special rift that stretches through East Africa, including Kenya.

What makes soda lakes so unique is their water, rich with soda and salt. These lakes are often filled with algae, which attract thousands of flamingos. The sight of pink flamingos covering the lake is something you’ll never forget!

Lake Nakuru National Park is a perfect place for bird lovers and wildlife fans. Its shimmering waters, colorful birds, and amazing animals make it a magical place to explore.
